S01E02 ERGONOMICS AND MIRACLE PILLS

An ergonomics initiative is supposed to improve workplace comfort, but the staff quickly turn it into an excuse to complain about aging, bad backs, and the general indignities of office life. While Mitch enthusiastically investigates workplace safety, the office becomes divided over what proper ergonomics actually means. Tori pushes for practical solutions and expert advice, while Sherry becomes convinced that pool chairs, deck chairs, and other comfort-focused alternatives are exactly what the office needs. Before the debate can be settled, the portal in the break room produces an unexpected complication: a box of "Magic Mike's Miracle Pills" that seem capable of granting people's wishes.

Janice, who has spent years collecting aches, pains, divorces, and hard-earned wisdom, is tempted by the chance to feel young again. After taking one of the pills, her bad knees improve, her energy returns, and she begins wondering whether love might still be worth pursuing. As she reconnects with old memories and spends time with Sherry, Janice enjoys a version of herself she hasn't seen in years.

Clark's wish is to have the courage to be honest. Frustrated by his relationship with Sandra, whose demands continually push him outside his comfort zone, Clark takes a pill and finds himself unable to keep his feelings bottled up. What begins as newfound confidence soon grows into physical strength and blunt honesty, leading him to challenge warehouse employees, voice frustrations he's normally too polite to express, and stand up for himself in ways he never would have before. By the end of the day, Clark finally ends things with Sandra without the aid of the pills.

Sherry sees the ergonomics project as an opportunity to make work more enjoyable, championing pool chairs and increasingly questionable workplace improvements despite Tori's objections. At the same time, conversations with Tori also turn toward relationships and marriage, subjects that continue to occupy Sherry's thoughts. While the miracle pills seem to transform everyone around her, Sherry is left largely unchanged, continuing her search for both the perfect office environment and a better understanding of what she wants from life.

Tori, meanwhile, finds herself increasingly frustrated as the office drifts further away from the original purpose of the ergonomics initiative. Focused on being responsible and setting a good example, she struggles to rein in Sherry's enthusiasm and the growing influence of the miracle pills. Eventually, Tori realizes that if she wants the office to take the issue seriously, she needs to stop sitting on the sidelines and take charge. Armed with her parenting skills, she steps in to restore order before things get completely out of hand.

By day's end, a box of reversal pills falling out of the portal undo the effects of Magic Mike's miracle cure. Janice returns to normal, Clark leaves behind a relationship that no longer works for him, and the office settles back to normal. But as Mitch continues investigating strange electrical disturbances connected to the portal, he discovers evidence that the portal might not just be a portal to science fiction mysterious, but a portal to some kind of mysterious system that includes the break room itself.
